Domaine Jean Louis Chave
The Chave family is one of the oldest names in the world of wine and has been producing some of the greatest wines for over 500 years. Starting out their success with a vineyard in Hermitage, then branching out to other properties such as coteau de Bachasson, where the family started out their winemaking history, and Clos Florentin in 2009.
Located in the northern part of Rhone, the vineyards benefit from an incredibly rich terroir that fully expresses itself through Jean Louis Chave wines. Regarded as the most exceptional terroir of all is the famous Hermitage hill, where the Domaine has a microscopic plant and produces the legendary Cuvée Cathelin. Along with scores of over 95 for 20 years by the Wine Advocate, its small production also plays a role in how desirable Jean Louis Chave’s wines are around the world, producing only 30,000 bottles a year.
Some of the best Jean-Louis vintages are 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, and 2003.
