Château Cheval Blanc
Château Cheval Blanc is an eminent wine producer in Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux. Having remained largely unchanged since the 1850’s, its wine is one of only four to receive the highest rank of First Growth Classified status in 2012.
Since 1998, Château Cheval Blanc belongs to the billionaire Albert Frère and Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), the world’s largest luxury-goods company. The Estate manager is Pierre Lurton, which is also the winemaker of Château d’Yquem.
Offering a variety of soils and subsoil, and covering 41 hectares, Château Cheval Blanc produces outstanding Cabernet Franc, Merlot noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon hand-harvested grape varieties. Its acclaimed second wine, Le petit-Cheval, has also won considerable praise.
Cheval Blanc obtained the highest awards given to wines from the Bordeaux region at various exhibitions including London in 1862 and Paris 1878.
The best vintages of Chateau Cheval Blanc are: 2017, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2005, 2001, 1982, 1964, 1961, 1959, 1955, 1953, 1950, 1929, 1928 and 1921.
